Shoshone Mike
Published in Hardcover by Viking Press (November, 1987)
Author: Frank Bergon
Average review score:

Very Good!
I usually avoid Westerns because its hard to find any that don't follow the Louis L'Amour/Zane Grey formula tripe.

This one is an exception. It is truly original and captivating from start to finish. You won't go wrong with this one.

Incredible Book
This book is probably the best Western novel that I have ever read. Its only competitor in my experience is the "Ox-Bow Incident." However, Bergon's novel, which is based upon a real event, is still better.

The action, which is set around the Nevada town of Winnemucca in the year 1911, revolves around the pursuit of a Shoshone Indian family from Idaho accused of killing some white men. Told from the perspective of several major characters, including the Winnemucca Sheriff, a Basque immigrant, and the Shoshone Indians, this novel really shows the ugly underside of the West that never appears on the movie screen or in Louis L'amour's novels.

This is novel is not a celebration of the old West, but it is a page-turner and well worth adding to your library.

GREAT BOOK!!
Hey, all you 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, Doe Sia is one of the greatest books I've ever read. It is a very exiting book, which keeps you very emotionlly involved. One minute it has your hopes up high, and the next minute you feel there is no hope at all. I have read the book twice now and it has kept me interested the whole two times. In conclusion, Doe Sia is a great book and I would recomend that you read Doe Sia.

The Bannock of Idaho (Idaho Yesterdays)
Published in Paperback by Univ of Idaho Pr (September, 1996)
Authors: Brigham D. Madsen and Maynard Dixon Stewart
Average review score:

An well written history of a of the lesser known NA people
Brigham Madsen provides a good through history of the Bannock nation. His focus/speculation on how they became seperate from the Snake nation and on their continued existance in regards to buffaloe hunting provide an excellent benefit to reading this book. Though somewhat dry in parts, this book gives a reader insight into the life of the Bannock and the history of the american west. Great for anyone interested in the history of southern Idaho, Oregon, NA history or History of the American West.

The Penguin Dictionary of Economics
Published in Paperback by Penguin Books (March, 1990)
Authors: Graham Bannock, R. E. Baxter, and Evan Davis
Average review score:

horrible
Please, for the love of god, don't buy this...! Many terms and concepts key to field are simply absent, and the entries, when present, are so curt as to be practically useless. One could expect as much simply looking up the terms in a standard Webster's Dictionary.

Trust me, spend the extra bucks and buy one of the alternatives. I'm looking into the MIT Press version myself . . . .

Economist
I disagree with the reviewer. I think it is a good quick reference for simplie and complicated economics terms as well as well-known economists and the theories they are known for. I have an economics degree and find this useful to help trigger my memory about my economic studies.

The guide is missing some US economic terms, but it is still a useful guide for the price.
